Advanced settings

Recommended prefers featured clips, then recent, then popular. Recent broadens to popular when needed. All modes avoid recently played clips when alternatives exist.

Loading does not count. Fade mode prefers clips that fit, with a fade ending at the limit for longer clips.

Turn off to allow anyone in chat. One shoutout plays at a time, with five waiting. Duplicate targets are suppressed with a 15-second cooldown. Refreshing OBS clears the queue.

Show whether the player connects to your chat and accepts your commands.

Temporarily replace the URL in your existing OBS Browser Source with a test link. When finished, use Copy OBS URLabove to put your normal overlay back. Test links show messages on screen, so don't use them while live.

Edit an existing overlayRestore settings from your OBS link

Restores this player's URLs. Copy the updated URL into OBS to apply changes. Clip history stays in the browser where playback happens.

How to Set Up a Shoutout Player in OBS

You'll be playing clips on stream in under two minutes

Enter your channel

Type your Twitch username, pick a theme, and set your clip volume. Advanced settings are optional.

Generate your OBS URL

Click "Copy OBS URL" to copy your settings. The URL also stays visible so you can select it manually.

Add a browser source

In OBS or Streamlabs, add a new Browser source, paste the URL, and set the size to 1920×1080.

Shout out a streamer

Type the shoutout command (e.g. !so username) in your chat and a random clip from their channel plays on stream.

Is the shoutout player free?

Yes, it is completely free while in beta — no account and no downloads. If it saves you time, you can support development by buying me a coffee.

Does it work with Streamlabs or other streaming software?

Yes. It works with any streaming software that supports browser sources, including OBS Studio and Streamlabs Desktop.

How does it choose which clip to play?

Recommended prefers featured clips, then clips from the last 30 days, then popular clips. Recent and Popular preferences are also available. Recently played clips are avoided when alternatives exist; history is saved in your OBS browser storage.

Do I need to give it access to my Twitch account?

No. There is no login and no OAuth prompt. You only enter your channel name — the player reads public clips and public chat messages.

Who can trigger the shoutout command?

By default, only your moderators and you can use the command. Turn off "Moderators Only" if you want anyone in chat to trigger shoutouts.

Why doesn’t a clip play when I use the command?

Shoutouts wait in a queue while another plays. A creator card appears when no eligible video is available. Use the separate video/audio test and chat check URLs to diagnose setup, and keep your OBS browser source active.
