Frequently Asked Questions

Is the shoutout player free?

Yes, it is completely free while in beta — no account and no downloads. If it saves you time, you can support development by buying me a coffee.

Does it work with Streamlabs or other streaming software?

Yes. It works with any streaming software that supports browser sources, including OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, and Twitch Studio.

How does it choose which clip to play?

When you shout someone out, the player fetches that channel’s most recent clips (up to the count you set), filters them by your max clip length, and plays one at random.

Do I need to give it access to my Twitch account?

No. There is no login and no OAuth prompt. You only enter your channel name — the player reads public clips and public chat messages.

Who can trigger the shoutout command?

By default, only your moderators and you can use the command. Turn off "Moderators Only" if you want anyone in chat to trigger shoutouts.

Why doesn’t a clip play when I use the command?

The channel you shouted out may have no clips, or none shorter than your max clip length. Also check that the browser source is on your active scene and visible in OBS.
